About What is the travel time to drive from Sacramento to San Francisco on a typical Friday night

What is the travel time to drive from Sacramento to San Francisco on a typical Friday night?
When you would consider peak travel time? What if you left Sacramento around 6-7? Thanks for the quick answers guys.

Answer 1 :
thanks 4 the 2 points
Answer 2 :
2-3 hours depending on time of friday night. You leave during peak driving periods you may be lookin at 4 hours. Clear roads, no traffic mabey a bit under 2 hours though
Answer 3 :
Usually the drive is about one hour and forty-five minutes during "normal traffic conditions" and that's from Mapquest. I would say about two hours plus in my own experience of wading through traffic near the usual trouble spots like near Berkley and where it randomly slows down just outside of Vacaville. Traffic is always bad in the Bay Area anyway and it is really tough to say exactly.
Answer 4 :
I would say 2 hours if you hit it right...but with traffic, you could be spending another hour in your vehicle.
Answer 5 :
2 hours allows for traffic. it is usually an hour and a half
Answer 6 :
Probably 2.5 hours...I-80 is a friggin nightmare from Davis to the Carquinez bridge during that time of night on a Friday...watch out, lots of CHP, especially from Fairfield to Cordelia. Be careful and enjoy....

Answer 1 :
6 months oregon trail
Answer 2 :
They are 1790 miles between Sacramento and Chicago. If they traveled at 5 mph for 8 hours a day they would travel 40 miles a day. If they did this every day they would make it to Sacramento in about 45 days, 1 and a half months. This is if everything is perfect. I would guess in reality it would take two to three months to travel.

Answer 1 :
I think the BART will be your cheapest option.
Answer 2 :
Greyhound Bus
Answer 3 :
either bus or train. it just depends on what you prefer. try amtrak.com
Answer 4 :
Fly on southwest. if you book in advance it pretty cheap.
Answer 5 :
ASK THE MEXICANS THEY DO IT ALL THE TIME
Answer 6 :
Walking=$0
Answer 7 :
Either Amtrak, Greyhound Bus, or Southwest Airlines. Price them both, see what you get. I just looked online and I found a plane ticket for $69, a train ticket for $65, and a bus ticket for $77. So you CAN find comparable prices no matter how you decide to get there, it really depends on your own personal situation (departure date/time, arrival date/time, luggage, etc.)
Answer 8 :
Hitch hike.. 0$$$$$$
Answer 9 :
I would try Jet Blue or www.pinpointtravel.com maybe even consider Amtrack.

About Travel from sacramento to lake tahoe with 2wd

Travel from sacramento to lake tahoe with 2wd?
Hi, I have a honda civic 2006 4cylinders, 1.8liters engine, and it's a 2wd. Do you think i can go from sacramento to lake tahoe during this time with the car above? Well, i think i will have to bring a chain too. Anyway, let me know if the car is ok Thanks
Sacramento - 3 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
The car will make it just fine. Just be sure to carry the proper sized chains, and make sure you know how to put them on, that means to practice before you go. Otherwise plan on paying around $30.00 for someone to do it for you. Drive carefully.
Answer 2 :
You will be just fine in that car. By law, you must carry chains... for that car probably cable chains - check your owners manual. You only need to put them on if CHP has a checkpoint setup. They keep the roads pretty clear when it's not actively storming. Practice putting chains on or figure on paying someone $30 to do it for you. My advice to you: * take it easy when you drive through shadows or after dark, there is black ice on the road. * leave your windshield wipers up when you park or they may freeze to the window. * avoid parking on hills and do not use your emergency brake, it can freeze on. * keep a window scraper with you If you are driving with chains on: * 25mph no matter how hard the jerk in a hopped up SUV is tailgating you. * Don't start in "drive" or 1st gear. Force it into 2nd. 1st gear has too much torque for chains. For current road conditions and chain requirements call: 1-800.427.7623
Answer 3 :
As long as you have the chains and are careful, you should be fine. But if you don't mind me saying, I think SUV's are better because when driving in winter conditions, the trip can sometimes be unexpectedly longer than you might anticipate as traffic can accumulate when the weather changes and speed limits must be drastically reduced for safety. So on that note, your passengers may not be very comfortablt in your car. More importantly, an SUV really gives the driver a bigger benefit as you can see much more of the road a lot better. I've driven a Civic like yours before and while I think it's a great everyday car, it's not the most comfortable for traveling. That's just my opinion. I hope you have a fun and safe trip.

Answer 1 :
If you fly from LAX to Sacramento...I would recommend Southwest Airlines!! One...they don't charge for luggage and the customer service is great!! Regarding documents to fly or even take the train.....all you will need is your ticket, boarding pass and a government issued I.D...most likely your drivers license!! Thats it!!
Answer 2 :
I would take the plane. You only need your ID to fly. It would be 8hrs by car and even longer by train. Depending on your closest airport, JetBlue or Southwest would be the best airline. JetBlue from Long Beach to SAC is super easy!!
Answer 3 :
To drive a car yourself, you need a license. To ride as a passenger in a car driven by someone else, you do not need any documents. To go on an airplane, you need some form of government-issued photo ID. Most passengers use their licenses to drive cars, but some use passports or various other documents.

About When is the worst time (season) to travel I-5 from Sacramento to Seattle

When is the worst time (season) to travel I-5 from Sacramento to Seattle?
I need to know when the snow season is along I-5 from Sacramento to Seattle. I know the winter is a bad time to travel in any mountains, but what month does the snow start to fall along this path?
Weather - 3 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Definitely in the winter - traffic, snow (as you pass the southern parts of oregon), lots of rain (oregon valley)
Answer 2 :
Snow can begin falling as early as November. It doesn't usually become a problem until around December, but there have been exceptions. DOT usually does a good job keeping the area passable since it is the major North-South route, but sometimes nature throws them a "curve ball".
Answer 3 :
I was born in CA and lived there till I was 41. Check out weather.com.... you really don't want to travel I-5 during the months they get fog - and I mean fog that comes from all directions, including the ground. I've had to drive it at a mear 5 mph during those times and most folks will just pull over and sit on the side of the road and wait for the sun to come up.

It is OK , but I would go to Mapquest.com and get a detailed route with miles and estimated times. Just enter your start and final address and go with their recommendation. You can ask for shortest or fastest route.
