What is the cheapest and quickest mode to travel from Sacramento to San Jose?
I will be traveling with standard airline baggage -- one check in bag, one cabin bag, and a laptop backpack. Next week will be my first trip to the US.

The single way air ticket is USD240! And it's with two stopovers and takes almost 12hours! Maybe you have better choice than the flight.

The Capitol Corridor train is the route my daughter takes when she comes home to Sacramento from San Jose State. It takes about 3 hours, but only costs $34. You'll have plenty of room, be able to walk around and stretch your legs, and even use the free onboard wifi with your laptop.
